She currently is serving on many task forces including Children in Crisis Task Force. In 2017 she became a domestic violence advocate and works closely with victims in eastern Oklahoma County. God called Abraham and Sarah to follow Him and used them to found a new nation. Their grandson, Jacob, was the father of what we know as the 12 Tribes of Israel, the historic roots of God's chosen people. Often forgotten in Jacob's story is that Leah was the mother of six of those tribes, including the tribe of Judah, from whom King David and Jesus Christ were descended. Leah was Jacob's first wife. Her father, Laban, swindled Jacob into marrying her rather than Leah's sister, Rachel, the desired one. An interpretation of Leah's name and history is that of one who is weary. Her story of not being chosen, of being rejected, motivated our naming of Leah's Hope. Our interest is to invest in and bring hope to the lives of those who are weary, who have and are feeling the weight of rejection. Genesis 29:31 states: "When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive."
